The Société de développement économique de la Colombie-Britannique (SDECB), designated as a Francophone Economic Development Organization (OFDE), represents the economic interests of the Francophone and Francophile community in British Columbia. The BCEDS has implemented a program aimed at raising awareness, support, and promotion of the hiring of Francophone immigrants by employers.
Job Description:
Under the responsibility of the immigration program director, the specialist will be responsible for welcoming, accompanying, and guiding clients in developing the necessary skills through a personalized plan to find employment and integrate into their environment. As a front-line employee, they will be the first point of contact for clients and responsible for creating a trust relationship with exemplary service quality.
Working Conditions
- Position: Part-time, 21 hours/week
- Salary: between $28,026 and $28,500 per year, depending on experience
- Work Location: Hybrid (virtual and throughout the Fraser Valley)
- Benefits: Group insurance

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Seeker Accompaniment
- Identify needs and propose adapted solutions to employment-related challenges (skills, cultural adaptation, etc.);
- Provide tools and training to facilitate professional integration;
- Provide personalized advice for career planning for vulnerable clients, particularly youth and women;
- Assist with resume writing, cover letters, and interview preparation according to labor market standards;
- Organize and lead workshops on job search techniques and professional development;
- Evaluate client needs and skills to propose adapted resources;
- Refer clients to related services within the community;
- Conduct follow-up after placement to ensure client satisfaction.
Employer Support
- Assist employers in recruiting and retaining Francophone talent;
- Propose integration solutions adapted to the specific needs of the region;
- Identify labor market trends and needs;
- Strengthen partnerships and connections with entrepreneurs.
Development and Coordination
- Organize and lead awareness activities, such as networking events, to connect clients with potential employers;
- Contribute to promoting the organization’s programs at events and fairs;
- Ensure the application of administrative practices of the program;
- Ensure the delivery of results according to strict deadlines;
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIRED PROFILE
- Bilingualism (French and English, oral and written);
- University degree in a relevant field (human resources, management, communication/marketing) or equivalent work experience;
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in project management or recruitment;
- Good understanding of issues related to Francophone immigration, employability, and entrepreneurship;
- Familiarity with Francophone and Acadian communities in Canada;
- Sense of innovation, rigor, and creativity;
- Discretion, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills;
- Excellent communication, networking, and presentation skills;
- Knowledge of recruitment practices and the local labor market;
- Good knowledge of integration practices for new arrivals and available resources;
- Ability to assess individual needs and adapt interventions;
- Able to work independently in a multicultural environment;
- Able to travel throughout the Fraser Valley, mainly to Langley.
