Business in BC: Understanding, positionning yourself, getting things done – IWE Workshop

The basics of entrepreneurship in Canada: how to start a business as a newly arrived immigrant.

Are you a French-speaking woman in British Columbia and want to start or develop your entrepreneurial project?

This free and interactive workshop will help you better understand local codes, avoid common mistakes, and lay the foundation for a solid business.

This workshop is for you if:

  • You are a French-speaking woman who has recently arrived in B.C.
  • You have a business or freelance idea that you want to turn into reality *
  • You are authorized to work in Canada (permanent residence, open work permit, or Canadian citizenship).

* If you are already in business, this workshop will also be useful for structuring your business and meeting other women entrepreneurs.

Hosted by Agnès Piloz, business development coach, this workshop will allow you to:

  • Understand the unwritten rules of the business world in B.C.
  • Identify common mistakes to avoid as an immigrant entrepreneur
  • Clarify your positioning and value in the local market
  • Activate at least three concrete levers to develop your business
  • Leave with a simple and realistic action plan

Agenda:

  1. Decoding the business context in British Columbia
  2. The basics for starting a business (legal status, taxes, registration…)
  3. Positioning and creating value in the local market
  4. Networking and opportunities: best practices and common mistakes

Practical information:

  • Date: Tuesday, March 10 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm
  • Free and open to all French-speaking women in B.C. interested in entrepreneurship
  • Registration required before March 9
  • No prior entrepreneurial experience is required
  • Online – Zoom
