FDEFP Funding Program

The Fonds de développement économique francophone du Pacifique (FDEFP) is a funding program managed by the Société de développement économique de la C.-B. (SDÉCB) and financed by PacifiCan under the Economic Development Initiative (EDI).

The FDEFP aims to promote and financially support Francophone economic development through projects designed and implemented by and for Official Language Minority Communities (OLMCs) in British Columbia.

The call for project proposals from September 16, 2024, to March 31, 2025, is close.

What are the eligibility criteria?

  • Only French-speaking organizations in British Columbia, legally formed and of local or provincial scope, are eligible for the FDEFP program.
  • The organization applying for the program must operate in French and contribute to the development and promotion of the Francophonie in British Columbia.
  • Projects must serve a French-speaking audience from the OLMCs in British Columbia.
  • Projects funded under the FDEFP program may have a local or provincial scope and must demonstrate a real impact and clear, measurable benefits in at least one of the following sectors:
    • Diversification and economic development, including trade and investment

    • Economic immigration

    • Green economy

    • Youth

    • Tourism

       

What is the total amount of grants and eligible expenses?

An organization can submit only one application per year. Project funding will range from a minimum of $20,000 to a maximum of $75,000 per year.

  • Eligible expenses under the FDEFP program include contractual fees, promotional expenses, travel expenses, training costs, infrastructure investment, and equipment purchases.
  • Salaries and administrative costs are not accepted as eligible expenses in this program. However, they can be included in the beneficiary organization’s in-kind contribution.

What is the duration of projects funded by the FDEFP program?

The FDEFP program lasts five years, from 2024 to 2029. A call for project proposals will be launched at the beginning of each year, and the list of projects to be funded will then be announced. These projects must start on April 1st of the same year.

When to submit a funding request?

The first call for project proposals will be launched during the summer of 2024 for projects to be carried out from September 2024 to March 2025. For the other financial years (2025-2026, 2026-2027, 2027-2028, and 2028-2029), calls for project proposals will be launched at the beginning of each year.

Please attach the following documents to your application: project budget, letters of support, a copy of the previous year’s financial statements, and confirmation of other sources of funding.
